        Dental Practice Accreditation
Welcome to our well known Southern Division member and former president of the NSW ADA, Dr Hugo Sachs. Hugo has been the ADA voice on the ACSQHC committee and has been instrumental in the development of the practice accreditation package that is available from the ADA. Hugo and Matt will cover the areas required to gain accreditation for our practices, something we will eventually all  have to do.

The Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) has developed the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS Standards). The primary aims of the NSQHS Standards are to protect the public from harm and to improve the quality of health service provision. The Australian Dental Association Inc. (ADA Inc.) consulted with the Commission on the applicability of the full set of Standards to the dentistry profession, resulting in an agreement that only six of the ten NSQHS Standards should apply to dental practice accreditation. This agreement avoided the imposition of standards indicative of a hospital model that would prove onerous and inappropriate for the dental profession.

The accreditation process has been designed to give participating practices the opportunity to establish or review policies that already exist in accordance with statutory requirements, and be accredited against the six National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards applicable to dentistry

Our presenters will cover:

1.       Introduction to PA “How we got there"

2.       Matt Connor speaking on the technical and developmental aspects

3.       Matt taking attendees through the process of completing one of the standards (approximately 2.5 hours)
